The group photo was the kitchen crew. Dad was wounded in Belgium.
He doesn't remember where. He said he was sleeping in a hole in the
ground when a German 88 exploded near him. As a result of his injuries,
he lost his rank (from sergeant to Pfc) and finished the war in the
kitchen. He was deemed unfit for combat (shell shock). He was in
charge of a 60mm mortar squad. He is presently 86 years old. (12/2007)
