Andrew Chura, born April 2, 1921, in Staunton, Illinois. He attended grade school in Detroit, Michigan and graduated high school from Chicago at Lane Tech High School. He was inducted 20 March 1943. Chicago was the place of entry to service. Took his training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana and then went to South Carolina. According to his discharge papers he served in battles in Northern France - Ardennes - Rhineland. He received the following decorations: Victory medal - American Theater Ribbon - European - African - Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon - with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, 1 Overseas Service Bar, Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was taken prisoner in Germany, December 1944. Stalag IX-B Bad Orb He was sent to Fort Sheridan, Illinois, where he was discharged November 25, 1945. In 1946, he married Elizabeth and had 4 children. 1 girl and 3 boy's. Date of Death: September 6, 1995.
