Professional research services in the records located on-site in Southern Italy and Sicily. My next trip is scheduled for November 2004.
The completed report includes a log of locations and records searched and an analysis of the information found and copies or extracts of documents located. On-site research can also include extracts from local phone books or photos of the area as requested.
A free research proposal is available upon request, please state details concerning starting ancestor and goal desired from research project.
Project rates are $550/day for an on-site research project. The cost breaks down as follows:
$100 for air/train fare to Sicily (pro-rated between clients, because research is usually done for about 10 clients or days);
$150 for daily lodging, food, and travel expenses (including car rental and gas);
$300 for eight hours of research, report writing, and up to two hours of travel time on each paid research day.
This allows enough funds to cover expenses on weekends (when record offices are generally closed) and travel days (10 hours by train, car, or bus between Rome and Sicily at each end of the trip, or the faster but more expensive flights between Catania or Palermo and Rome).

Catania is the provincial capital of Catania Provincia and has a population of over 327,000. This city, with its major train and bus terminals is one of the centers of my travels in Sicily. Catania University, the archives of Catania Diocese, the Stato Civile, and the Provincial Archives (Catania Provincia) are located here.

Termini Imerese (Palermo Provinica) is on the Northern coast of Sicily. It has a population of over 27,000. The city is along a narrow strip near the port and then climbs a tall hill over looking the harbor. Of course, the train station is at the bottom of the hill while the Stato Civile and Duomo are at the top of the hill. Spectacular views and wonderful people!

Palermo (Palermo Provincia) is the capital city of the Region of Sicily and the capital of Palermo Provincia. Its population is almost 695,000. It is another center of my Sicilian travels with major bus and train terminals. The Cathedral and Archives of the Palermo Diocese are major repository of records, as are the two offices of the Archivio di Stato (Provincial Archives, Palermo) and the Stato Civile across from the central train station..

Agrigento is the capital of Agrigento Provincia and home to the Valley of the Temples. Records are located in the Stato Civile, Archivio di Stato, Agrigento Diocese Archives, and Cathedral Archives.
Aragona is in Agrigento Provincia and is a charming little town with church record books going back to 1600.
Sambuca di Sicilia is also in Agrigento Provincia back in the hills near a lovely lake.
Mineo is in Catania Provincia but inland on a hilltop. This delightful town has three main churches (one for each of the three sections of town).
Messina is the capital of Messina Provincia. There are records housed in the State Civile, the Diocese Archives, the Duomo, and the Archivio di Stato (provincial archives).
Pozzuoli is a town outside Napoli, near the coast.
Avigliano is a small hill town outside Potenza.
My latest book on CD is titled Agrigento, Palermo and Catania Provinces (Italy) - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Italy as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 600 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
